PRIVACY POLICY

Last updated 22 October 2026.

USailor (usailor.com) is a product of Instinctor, based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. USailor serves the United States.

What we collect

Account details: name, email, phone and password (stored hashed).
Business information: what a business enters about itself, including trades, service area, capabilities, services and prices, and contact details, and documents it uploads such as insurance certificates.
Marina information: a marina's name, address and contact details, and the requirements it sets for businesses.
Boat information: what an owner enters, such as make, model, year, length, engines, engine hours, hull identification number and where the boat is kept, and the boat's service record.
Requests, jobs and messages: requests, quotes, bookings, invoices, photos, messages, problem reports and reviews exchanged on USailor.
Technical data: basic logs, device and browser information, and cookies needed to keep you signed in.

Public business information

Some business listings are created from information the business has already made public, such as its website. A business can claim, correct or remove its listing at any time, as described in the Listing Policy. We may email a business at its published address, for example to say that boat owners tried to reach it; every such email has an unsubscribe link and a link to remove the listing.

How we use it

To run USailor: create and show listings, match owners with businesses, deliver messages and notifications, check documents against marina requirements, keep records, prevent fraud and abuse, provide support, and improve the service. We do not sell personal information.

Who sees what

Public: a business's listing and profile, its verified badges, its reviews and its completed-job record. A marina's name and street address are public. A business's street address is hidden unless the business chooses to show it.
Private: uploaded documents are visible only to the business's team and USailor administrators who review them. The verified badge is public; the document is not.
Requests, jobs and messages: visible to the owner and the businesses involved. Photos attached to a request or job are visible only to them. Administrators access messages only to handle a report.
Marina passes: a pass shows the business, the work, the boat, the slip and the dates to whoever checks it at the marina. It never shows insurance documents or policy numbers.
Boat records: visible to the owner and to anyone who has a link the owner created. Anyone with the link can see the record until the owner revokes it. Views of a shared record are counted, and the owner can see how many there were and when the last one was. When a boat is sold, the record moves with the boat to the new owner; prices paid and the previous owner's identity are not shown unless the previous owner chooses to share them. Access notes, such as gate codes, are never part of the record.

Counting visits

To show businesses how many owners saw or contacted them, we count profile views and clicks in aggregate. Each visitor is counted once a day using a daily-changing code that cannot identify them; we do not store who viewed what.

Service providers

We use providers for hosting, email, push notifications and similar services. They process data only to provide those services to us.

Retention and deletion

We keep data while your account is active and as needed for legal and accounting purposes. You can ask us to correct or delete your data. A removed listing is deleted; we keep only a minimal record that it was removed so it is not recreated.

Your choices

You can update your account, change what you share, revoke a shared boat record, choose how you are notified, and stop non-essential emails at any time. California residents and residents of other states with privacy laws may have additional rights, including access and deletion; write to us to use them.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect data. No system is perfectly secure.

Children

USailor is not intended for anyone under 18.

Changes and contact

We will post changes here with a new date. Privacy questions and requests: help@usailor.com.
